Martin Luther King Center

Seniors

The focus of this program is to enable senior citizens to age and engage in recreational, medical, physical, nutritional, cultural, and educational activities that improve their overall quality of life and feeling of connectivity, community and self-worth. The goal is to support them to remain in the community as long as possible. Seniors over the age of 55 have programming through the Center 2 to 3 days per week with transportation provided from their home to the Center. Programming includes individual case management and advocacy, a partnership with IPS 43 that is a partnership with the first grade class where the seniors provide individual support to students as they develop their reading skills, presentations and workshops from community partners (such as IU Health), shopping trips, crafts, games, computer training, and socials with seniors from other community programs.
