Volunteer your time

We always welcome anyone who has a heart for the community. Opportunities abound to help the Martin Luther King Community Center achieve its mission. Do you enjoy reading to pre schoolers or want to help tutor a middle school student? Could you teach music lessons, strings, wind or percussion? Would you like to do crafts with senior citizens or simply help answer the phones? There is a place for you!

Currently the Martin Luther King Community Center is looking for volunteers to specifically help with the following projects:

  • Tutors
  • Trimming shrubs & planting flowers
  • Upkeep of the library,
  • Preparing bulk mailings
  • Mentoring young adults in job readiness
  • Distributing food boxes to senior citizens
  • Event planning
  • Center Beautification

1st Annual Black Tie Fundraiser

"Get On The Bus With Us!"

Thank you for a successful and fun-filled event. 320 people attended the event held at the Gene B. Glick Junior Achievement Center on Saturday, October 25. The Board of Directors and staff successfully raised a portion of the proceeds towards the purchase of a 15-passenger bus. Thank you in advance for your contributions to assist the Center in acquiriring a bus to provide safe and reliable transportation for the children, seniors and families we serve.

2nd Annual Black Tie Fundraiser

This year's theme is “Monte Carlo Night”. All proceeds will help the center continue fulfilling the mission of serving children and families through creative programs that promote hope, self-sufficiency, responsibility, and a sense of community. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Gene B. Glick Junior Achievement Center, 7435 North Keystone from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.

Enjoy a night of fun, while playing gaming of your choice of gaming (craps, Caribbean stud, blackjack, poker, roulette, Texas hold-‘em). Join us for an evening filled with fun and excitement) - all while enjoying hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, silent auction, and a live band!

Ticket prices are $75.00 per person. Join us for the “after hours celebration” immediately following the “Monte Carlo Night” as we visit the Indiana Live! Casino. Join us for the “after hours celebration”. Departing at 11PM Departure from the Junior Achievement Center for the Indiana Live! Casino will be at 11:00 pm. $50 casino package includes: free $10 voucher, safe and responsible transportation, fun, fun, and more fun!
